Nurture

As a postpartum doula, I am here to support your new parenthood journey. Whether you’re a first-time parent or adding to a family that already includes children, I provide parental care and help families normalize their experiences during this unique and vulnerable time of life.

Postpartum Doula Services

After becoming a mother, it became obvious to me how chronically under-supported SO MANY parents are. I was lucky to have loving supportive family assistance, and it was STILL such a challenging time. After joining a local infant mothering group, I was overwhelmed by stories of new parents trying to function with woefully inadequate support systems. Becoming a parent is a huge life adjustment; a support network is essential.

I focus on supporting YOU as a parent during the first six to eight weeks postpartum (and sometimes beyond!), so you can feel more secure as you care for your infant. As your postpartum doula, I offer the following types of support to your new family:

  • Mother/Birthing-person care: Physical and mental birth recovery support. We can talk about what to expect from your body, what may be weighing on your mind, and how to juggle taking care of an infant while meeting your own needs.

  • Food/Meal Prep and Postpartum Nutrition Support: I love to cook for my family and I will love to cook for yours! I offer meals prepared at my home and delivered, or food prepared in your own home: breads, lactation cookies, soups, whole meals or snacks…We’ll discuss any food allergies or dietary restrictions in advance, and focus on foods that support postpartum recovery and/or nutrient-dense options to keep you well-fed while you care for your baby.

  • Infant feeding support: Whether you are breast/chest feeding or using formula, feeding your infant can be challenging and stressful; I’m here to listen, observe, and offer support for your feeding choices to insure both you and your infant are nourished.

  • Baby care support discussions and/or demos: Diapering, swaddling, bathing, weight-gain questions, skin care concerns, and baby-wearing options.

  • Infant sleep discussions: What’s “normal?” How can you adjust to sleep changes and manage expectations?

  • Infant care to facilitate parent/caregiver rest, older child-parent bonding, or parent-parent bonding

  • Daily household task assistance: laundry, dishes, light cleaning, houseplant watering, feeding pets, grocery shopping/pickup

  • Caring for older children to facilitate parent-baby bonding

  • Recommendations/referrals to seek specialist assistance when needed.

NOTE: I offer daytime and evening support hours; no overnight hours available.
